Local Grocery Options
One of the things I love about Mountain Thyme is that there are so many food options. There are great restaurants in Saluda and Hendersonville, all within 15 minutes. But Mountain Thyme also offers are really great kitchen for cooking which is part of the great room set up for enjoying some family time during preparation and eating together at the oak table.
Local and Local-ish Grocery Stores
Descriptions are my opinion only. I have included them for people visiting from outside of North Carolina that might not be familiar with the grocery store brands found here.
The closest full-scale grocery store is Ingle’s in Flat Rock. Ingle’s is a nice but middle-of-the-road chain. Produce and meats are decent and you can get whatever you need there, though maybe not the brand you want if you are used to higher-end stores. About 10 minutes from the house.

But don't miss Thompson's Historic Grocery in downtown Saluda. They have the best bacon and sausage I have ever had. They have meats and cheeses, drinks, and local craft products. This is not a full grocery store, but it is not to be missed if you like breakfast! Open Mon-Sat 9-6 and Sun 11-6.

Harris Teeter - Hendersonville: located on Spartanburg Hwy in Hendersonville, Harris Teeter is the highest level all-around grocery store without going to Asheville (which is 35 minutes away). Good produce and meats and more higher-end brands. They are the only store in the immediate area with Boar’s Head coldcuts. About 15 minutes away.

Hendersonville Community Co-op and Deli:
A fantastic small organic and natural grocery with gorgeous produce, meats, and seafood. Think of it as a mini-Whole Foods, and it's only 15 minutes away. Open 7am - 9pm Mon-Sat, 8-8 Sun

Ingle’s - Hendersonville: a second Ingle’s is located across Spartanburg Hwy from Harris Teeter in Hendersonville. About 15 minutes away.

Fresh Market - Hendersonville: Fresh Market forms a triangle with Harris Teeter and Ingle’s in Hendersonville. They have really nice produce, cheeses, wines, and more. I think of Fresh Market as the place to go for picking up stuff for a party. It is smaller and therefore more limited in selection than Whole Foods, but what they have is top-notch. About 15 minutes away.

Whole Foods Market - Asheville: To us, this is the top-of-the-line shopping experience for groceries. They have the best selection of organic produce, great seafood, meat, and cheese counters, tons of prepared foods including sushi and a salad bar. We are always inspired when shopping here. About 32 minutes away.
